Feeling a little sick the last couple of days and I thought my show was cancelled today but it turns out it wasn't! I'm very glad that I called to make sure. The home I played at was in outbreak recently and I wasn't sure if they were clear or not. I guess the take away for me is it's the beginning of cold and flu season and anything can happen. I lost 11 residents from one home alone last year due to influenza B. It was devastating because it was such a small home with less than 100 residents to begin with.

My personal interaction with colds is to go after it with a few things. Extremely high doses of vitamin C is number one on my list. I do mean high. 8 to 10 1000s. Naps do seem to throw the cold off its game and raw honey helps soothe my throat. My throat was super unhappy last night and it was incredibly dry and parts of it seemed stuck together. That's dry!!

The real magic as a working professional as a musician is knowing your equipment and work arounds for just about anything. One of the approaches I take is to turn my microphone up. A lot. I can then sing much quieter to preserve what stamina my voice has but it still sounds strong and fresh. A great tip for anyone who performs! The other thing....Buckleys. Yuk! But yah, I think it helps even though I'd just about rather drink gasoline. Same difference.

Hope your week is off to a great start!
