Life On The Road ~ A Musician's Diary
Today was an epic day for me. I went to a car dealership to look into buying the tall roof van that I want to turn into a mini RV, tiny home. I was pretty discouraged when I left because come hell or high water, I was going to be paying at least $600 a month for 84 months. Ouchie.
On my way home I was stopped at a traffic light about 10 minutes from my home when I spotted a van similar to what I have been looking for. As it turns out it's a diesel with some miles on it but will go for many many more years. I was able to meet the owner and we spent about an hour together going over the vehicle and trying to make a deal.
We were able to agree on an amount that worked for us both and I made the deal. There are some compromises but it's so so much better to own it outright than to have years and years of payments that just stress people out.
So now starts the fun of renovating it into a small home that will work for me for many years to come. I'm really looking forward to it.
The bonus is that it is part of the commercial line of vehicles that are professionally insulated and hard boarded from the factory. This means I can pretty much just start adding the things I need to live in it and not go through the tedious and expensive process of doing the insulation and hard boarding myself. It's not prefect but it's still better than those payments.
Puttin' on those miiles,
