Psalm 23

The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
3 He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name's sake.

4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.
6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
all the days of my life,
and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.

The blessings of God

5 You prepare a table before me
in the presence of my enemies;
you anoint my head with oil;
my cup overflows.

  • This is talking about how God will treat his children after guiding them on the right path and making sure they are on it, they get to enjoy the goodness of God. This means that ones we are certain of being a child of God who is following all the wills and commandment of the father, then the untouchable blessings of God will be upon our lives that the enemies will not be able to mess with in any way.

The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me, Because the LORD has anointed me To bring good news to the afflicted; He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to captives And freedom to prisoners; - Isaiah 61:1

  • When one is an anointed of God, the person will be separated from the world for the special assignment of God. Everyone that does the will of God is qualified to do the special work of God which is to deliver people from the hands of satan.

"You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. - Acts 10:38

  • So we are anointed of God like Jesus because God is with us.
    Then our cup will overflow with the joy of God which is our strength to do his will.

You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of joy above Your fellows. - Psalm 45:7

In the next episode which will be the last one for this series, I will talk about the final part of the Psalm so don't miss it. Do you have something to add? Kindly put it in the comment section.

Thanks for reading and stay blessed.
Shalom.
