Am I forgiven? How to receive God's forgiveness?

Question:

"Am I forgiven? How to receive God's forgiveness?"

Answer: Acts 13:38 says to us, "Know this then, my brethren: it is through him that the forgiveness of sins is spoken to you."

What is forgiveness and why do I need it?

The word "forgive" means to erase everything, to make a clean sweep, to pardon, to cancel a debt. When we harm someone, we seek his forgiveness to restore the relationship that was broken. Forgiveness is not granted because the culprit deserves to be forgiven. Nobody deserves to be forgiven. Forgiveness is an act of love, mercy, and grace. Forgiveness is a decision to keep no resentment towards someone, despite what he has done to you.

The Bible tells us that we all need God's forgiveness. We have all committed sins. Ecclesiastes 7.20 proclaims: "No, there is no righteous man on earth who does good and never sins. 1 John 1.8 states: "If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. All sin is an act of rebellion against God (Psalms 51: 4). Therefore, we desperately need God's forgiveness. If our sins are not forgiven, we will eternally suffer the consequences (Matthew 25:46, John 3:36).

Forgiveness, how can I get it?

Fortunately for us, God is a God of love and mercy, who wants to forgive our sins! 2 Peter 3.9 tells us, "He shows patience to us, that none of them should perish but that all should come to repentance. Because God wants us to be forgiven, he has given us the means to do that.

The only punishment for our sins is death. The first half of Romans 6:23 states, "For the wages of sin is death. Eternal death is the consequence that we deserve for our sins. But God, in his perfect plan, became a man in Jesus Christ. (John 1.1, 14) Jesus died on the cross to take upon himself the condemnation we deserved: death. 2 Corinthians 5:21 teaches us: "For whoever did not know sin, he made it become sin for us, that in him we should become righteous of God. Jesus died on the cross to take upon himself the punishment we deserved! Since he himself was God, the death of Jesus grants the forgiveness of sins to all humanity. 1 John 2.2 proclaims: "He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins, and not only for ours but also for those of the whole world. Jesus was then resurrected, proclaiming his victory over sin and death. (1 Corinthians 15: 1-28) Glory to God that by the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ the second part of Romans 6:23 is true: "But the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus. Christ our Lord. "

Do you want your sins to be forgiven? Are you gnawed by a feeling of guilt that you can not get rid of? The forgiveness of your sins is possible if you are ready to put your faith in Jesus Christ as your personal Savior. Ephesians 1: 7 says to us: "In him, by his blood, we are redeemed, forgiven of our sins, according to the riches of his grace. Jesus has already paid our debt so we can be forgiven. Just ask God to forgive you by Jesus, believing that Jesus died to offer you this forgiveness, and God will forgive you! John 3.16-17 expresses this wonderful message: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. God did not send his Son into the world to judge the world, but to save the world through him. "

Forgiveness, is it really so easy?

Yes, it's as simple as that! We do not deserve God forgiveness. We can not buy God's forgiveness. It can only be received through faith, by the grace and mercy of God. If you want to accept Jesus Christ as your Savior and receive God's forgiveness, here is a prayer you can send him. Just saying this prayer, or any other prayer, can not save you. Only the decision to trust Christ can lead to forgiveness of your sins. This prayer is only a way to express to God your faith in him and to thank him for having provided your salvation.

"God, I know that I have sinned against you and deserve punishment. But Jesus Christ took the punishment that I deserved so that by faith in him I could be forgiven. I put my trust in you for my salvation. Thank you for your grace and your wonderful forgiveness, for the gift of eternal life! Amen!"

Did you make the decision to accept Christ after what you just read here? If so, I congratulate you. Let me know in the comment section.
