It's @gabeboy here. It happened two days ago that I managed to start my witness node attached to @photochallenge account.

As many witnesses did it when they launched their servers, I also would like to address my short introduction to you and share my thoughts in the hope that you will appreciate my efforts and consider me worthy of your precious witness votes.

Who are the witnesses?

Witnesses are running servers that produce the blocks of the blockchain. If there's no witness there's no blockchain. Witnesses are rewarded for producing blocks, they receive whalestake. The more and the bigger accounts voted for your witness account, the more blocks your server produces and the more whalestake you receive.

The team

There's no team. I run the account alone. I am the only one who has access to @photochallenge, I select and reward the winners and write posts. Of course, there are many of you who have been supported the account with your generous rewards.

My witness philosophy

A couple of days ago, I wrote a post about my philosophy. I won't repeat but slightly extend it:

The @photochallenge account

• was created for your benefits and not for personal purposes;
• doesn't want to be just a photography contest or the only photography contest on Whaleshares. Our discord server offers rooms and channels to anybody;
• endeavours to build a community as a part of the Whaleshares community to strengthen it and not divide it. Although photography is a leading topic, it's not exclusively the only one. Everybody is welcome;
• uses its whalestake only for rewarding and never for punishing/flagging;
• is a neutral witness and respects all the members of Whaleshares community;

Why did I become a witness?

Many of us have a vision, how Whaleshares should work in the future. The more overlap there is, the better. I believe in Whaleshares. Being a witness, I can contribute more to the blockchain, I can ensure the growth of the account and that way, I can give you back more reward. It was a pleasure to see newcomers who joined my contest earning their first whalestake and seeing them grow. I am really proud of that @photochallenge gives you daily around 200 WLS by its upshares.

When I created @photochallenge account I had a dream and I drafted a plan. I've been following this plan.

The story

milestone - 0

@photochallenge was created by @gabeboy (that's my personal account) on the 11th October 2018. I'm a hobby photographer and I wanted to run a photo contest on the blockchain. Just for fun.

milestone - 1

I created the concept and visual elements (don't laugh, I'm not a pro! :grinning: ) meanwhile @pixel provided me tokens to reward the participants.@photochallenge started.

milestone - 2

The account was growing, @pixel retired in November. I used the whalestakes of my two accounts to reward the winners.

milestone - 3

I launched the @photochallenge's discord server with extra contents and challenges on the 28th of January.

milestone - 4

End of January, @photochallenge owned 25k whalestake, and became completely independent. I extracted my personal account from the reward system.

milestone - 5

@photochallenge's witness server started on the 20th February and it produced its first block in a few hours. Currently, it's in position #39 among the witnesses.

I have a plan and I stick to it, don't worry! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:
