PSG hosted Bayern Munich hoping to avoid another collapse that has plagued them in recent years and they managed to do just that and restrict Bayern to just one away goal. This victory is a huge motivation for PSG and Bayern would see this as a sour taste to the mouth as they have been tipped to go all the way as they did last year.

PSG has been known for their superb counter-attacks, even on away games and they launched it so early on when Neymar found Mbappe in the 3rd minute. Mbappe raced clear to the box only for his effort to go narrowly wide, failing to connect to the other end of the post. What a goal that would have been. It would have settled the nerves.

In the 9th minute, another connection between Neymar and Mbappe occurred and this time around, Mbappe coaster through to the box from the side and laid a pass into the path of Neymar but it was cut off by the defender. Neymar turned away quickly not knowing the ball actually cut loose into an open space and before he could turn and hit the ball, the goalkeeper already had it covered.

Bayern got a chance of their own in the 25th minute when PSG lost possession of the ball. Sane was played through and he brilliantly tried a curling effort that narrowly missed going into the back of the net.

Neymar dazzled on the 37th minute after expertly turning with dazzling footwork to displace Conman. He produced a lovely curling effort that was saved by the crossbar after expertly beating the goalkeeper. That would have been a special goal.

Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting gave Bayern Munich a lifeline in the 40th minute when Navas initially saved Alaba's effort in the box. The ball bounced and found Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting who headed home the effort to give a renewed sense of belief to Bayern. 4 minutes after, Alaba had another brilliant strike at goal which Navas had to save at full stretch for a corner kick.

On a night where everything seems not to be going well for PSG on the front foot, Di Maria expertly brought a ball down, displaced his marker in the box and cheekily left the pass across the post for Neymar to poke in. Even though he stretched for the ball, Neymar still couldn't get a foot on it much to his disappointment.

PSG thought their jinx in front of the goal for this match was saved over in the 78th minute when Mbappe raced clear on goal. He expertly and beautifully dispatched his effort into the roof of the net for a goal but an offside call was given against him and the goal was cancelled. Not long after, in the 82nd minute, Sane twisted and turned to have a shot at goal. He did but his effort missed narrowly as well and no one could connect with it either.

PSG should have gotten another goal in the 89th minute if not for Manuel Neuer. Mbappe raced clear and brilliantly laid a pass into the path of the onrushing Neymar but Neuer was able to get their first and clear it t safety. In the 3rd minute of extra time, Sane's effort inside the box couldn't pick out another Bayern player and Navas gathered it. That was a lifeline that should have sealed their win so late into the game but it was spurned.

Mbappe and Neymar played brilliantly and had many chances to get a win but they were unable to. Those missed chances ended up not haunting them in the end and it would have left a sour taste in their mouth if Bayern got the second goal.

PSG advanced into the Semi-Finals of the UEFA Champions League after a 3-3 final aggregate score for the second season in a row and would be meeting either Manchester City or Borussia Dortmund.
