Great Comeback But Not Impressed.

We all know that UEFA Champions League has its magic and we witnessed another magical night at Old Trafford when Manchester United hosted Atalanta in what might determine their fate in the group. United has been struggling of late after struggling for 4 games consecutively without a win and this game came at the right time to put a sense of urgency into the team with everyone calling for the head of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Atalanta had a brilliant first-half showing and the game looked like United would be in trouble as usual because of how easy they either surrender a lead or struggle to win when it matters or even how they concede so easily with no clear pattern of play but they rallied round in the second half and came back from two goals down to win the game by 3-2. Rashford, Maguire and Ronaldo all got on the score sheet to turn the game around.

United won with their usual comeback that has dominated their history but still, it's not impressive. How do you go down by 2 goals in the first half, at home? How did they even get to that point after a horrible first half showing? They might have won the game but it still shows what everyone feared already and it's a patch up because they can't afford to have that kind of performance against Chelsea, Liverpool or Manchester City. This team still needs help despite the comeback and I am afraid it would blind so many to the problems they are facing presently.

Manchester United had the first chance of the game in the 3rd minute after Rashford was played through on goal by Scot McTominay. He won the race but the finishing let him down as he fired wired and it would have been more embarrassing if it wasn't offside.

Atalanta had a go at United in the 15th minute after brilliant exchanges from the team that had Pasalic poke home the ball after a lovely low drive ball was delivered into the box to give Atalanta the lead. 5 minutes after, United got a chance of theirs as well when Ronaldo kept the ball in and lifted it into the box. Fred was on the end of it and his shot was pushed over the bar by the goalkeeper.

Atalanta extended their lead in the 28th minute after a lovely corner kick was delivered into the box and Demiral headed the ball into the back of the net with precision and ease to compound the worries for Manchester United. In the 43rd minute, United produced another brilliant attack when Fernandes found Fred and the Brazilian did everything right by gliding past defenders only to have his curling effort miss the target as he narrowly missed.

In the 52nd minute, a terrible back pass from Atalanta was pounced on by Bruno Fernandes and his one-touch pass was raced to by Marcus Rashford who took his time to get the ball beyond the reach of the goalkeeper to reduce the deficit for United. United got back into the game in the 75th minute after a Bruno Fernandes ball from the right-hand side of the pitch evaded everyone and found Maguire who was lurking at the edge of the box. He fired a low drive shot into the back of the net to bring the game to 2-2.

The turnaround was completed by Manchester United in the 81st minute after Luke Shaw's delivery into the box was matched by Ronaldo's header as the ball found the back of the net to give United fans something to cheer about. It was a blistering second-half showing by United and it was poor of Atalanta to surrender the lead even though they did everything possible to extend their lead but De Gea was equal to the attempts.

Manchester United completed the comeback and won 3-2 but still, the problem still hangs in the balance.
