The Steemit Promotion Mistake Whaleshares Shouldn't Make

I joined Steemit few months (about three months) after the chain started.

When I found the announcement on https://bitcointalk.org/ I hurriedly sign up for an account without thinking twice.

I wanted to be on a new social media to promote my freelance business as I was a freelancer on Fiverr.com and I needed more exposure for my gigs.

As days pass, I fell in love with steemit that I end up starting the first Nigerian community (Steem Lagos) with my good friend @captainphilips to promote the steemit network to our fellow Nigerians.

Our promotion strategy was to find writers from Nigeria especially from Lagos where we both live to attend our weekly seminars or hangouts where we introduce them to steemit.

Did we achieve success through this?

Yes we were successful in bringing new members into Steemit. But we failed woefully in presenting steemit in the right way to these new comers.

What Do I Mean With Presenting Steemit In A Right Way.

As a marketer, I love to analyse my marketing strategies or every promotion I run to see if it is working or needs some tweaking to maximize my return.

In my years of experience, I have come to realize that the way you present your offer determines the overall success of that offer.

Your presentation helps to build what the people seeing your offer determine in their subconscious mind.

In the case of our steemit promotion and every other steemit promotion strategy I have seen, we present steemit as a place giving free money.

We carelessly built it in the new comers mind that you are here to make money. If you can't make money then take a leave.

We told the world we are giving money, all you have to do is post and we will give you money. We thought this was our main proposition, but we were wrong.

Tiktok for example came few months after steemit and it already has millions of users. Most of the centralized social networks don't pay, yet people flock to them in their millions.

Why Do People Flock To Centralized Social Networks In Droves?

Most users see these centralized networks as a place to get entertainment, get informed or a place to kill boredom.

We need not to make the same mistake and make people believe whaleshares is printing free money for them.

We need to let them know with Whaleshares they can get informed, get entertained, meet with like minds, or a place to kill boredom.

Those I believe should be our primary message to the world, they can earn WLS should be a secondary message.
