Some Thank Yous Are In Order
We are very grateful for all of the support!
When we started thinking about creating a hub for translation on Whaleshares, we were just thinking about helping a few souls that were having a hard time getting their posts seen in their own language. We hadn't really thought about all of the applications that it could be used for.
Like translating English posts into other languages. Our focus was to help people get their posts seen by a larger audience (English) but as @matthewdavid saw, that can work both ways. He has had an English post translated into Hindi and Spanish so far to get his idea out to a larger audience and hopefully it is working for him. From the buzz, people really like the idea and it will be interesting to see how far it will go.
That brings us to:
Yeah! We were honoured to be asked to have a few of our teams translate The Beast posts.
For those of you that don't know, The Beast is a gruelling test of your will, stamina, and dedication. If it was a sporting event, it would probably be like doing two Iron Man competitions and then a decathlon, but with more ice cream. You can check out their English post here for more info. It looks like they are being a little lenient this time and giving you three different levels to strive for. I would have a hard time with the Cub level, I am sure.
If you see these folks, or any of our translators around, maybe show them some appreciation. Essentially they volunteer to do this in order to help people of their native language have access to such a great community initiative. As we have such a small stake right now, it sure isn't very much reward for all of their work. Even though that isn't why they do it, it is nice to feel appreciated. Even if it's just a pat on the back and a "Thank You".
On to the folks we want to thank
Well, that got a few tears welling up in my eyes.
I have had that feeling a few times since starting work on this project.I think the first was when @erodedthoughts donated about 500WLS to the project. Our stake was 60 WLS before that, and that was donated by @pankso and me to have a little more than the 0.1 WLS that we started with.
It's one thing for me to power down and send my own WLS over to help out but when others do it, just because they believe that strongly in what we are doing, it really makes a person think that this might be the right path. I look at our team of people that are working for nothing but the thought that this could really help some people and in turn, strengthen this blockchain that we have come to love.
That is worth a few happy tears any day.
Our full donor list can be found on our Discord server and we would love to see you there.
Oh, and we have a new face in the LIT family. We would like to welcome @penderis to our team. For those that know him, you know that he's just a really handy guy to have around. We plan on using him for everything that we can but his official role is Lead Detective. He is going to help make sure that we are doing our best to not be putting out translations on plagiarised material and helping to make sure that we look for things like properly sourced photos, etc...
How you can help.
We are always going to need help. Especially as Whaleshares grows and a growing number of people flood in. There's really not much that we would turn down in the way of help.
If you wanted to donate to our reward pool, it would help us to compensate the people that are working here. So far everyone is working like dogs as volunteers but it would be nice to throw them a bone when they are doing a great job. We all know that a pat on the back but people have bills that need to be paid.
Our Bitshares wallet is lost-in-translation in case you wanted to help in that way.
We could also use help with just about everything else. Come and talk to us. We will find something for you to do.
You can Join Us In Discord for more information or just to hang out with people. We're pretty friendly folks.
