Bird Photography ~ Hummingbird and Oregon Junco
Hey folks, here are some new photos taken over the past two days.
These first set of photos show a female Anna's Hummingbird. (Calypte anna)
I didn't even have to leave home for the hummingbird shots!
The bird is feeding on nectar from cherry blossoms in a tree in my backyard.
Here you see the same bird, perched on a branch. Notice the bright colour is mostly on the bird's back. The breast of the female is not brightly coloured.
I hope to capture a male bird next. The male has a distinctive purple spot on its throat.
The next set of photos were taken yesterday, showing a male Dark-eyed Oregon Junco. (Junco hyemalis oreganus)
The bird is perched in a Garry Oak tree. This tree is native to the coastal areas of California, Oregon, Washington, and southern British Columbia. Notice all the lichens on the branches.
This bird did not sit still for more than a few seconds so it was challenging to capture these shots.
All photos were taken by me, @keithboone using an Olympus E-M1 Mk. II with 40-150mm f/2.8 lens.
