New vs Old A Developer's Dilemma..png

This started as a comment on @d00k13's post about Justin Sun and Steem. I wanted to ramble a little more so here is the extended version.

TL;DR

I'm keeping my Steem stake where it is but focusing all new decentralized app ideas on Whaleshares.

My Plans for Steem

I'm keeping my stake in Steem. It was earned there so there it will stay. But I'm also putting my new eggs in Whaleshares. WLS has proved that it has the community it needs to stick around. This is the kind of place my development efforts may have the biggest impact.

Developing dApps

I have a new app that I am planning out which will be similar to Nebulus but different enough to warrant new development. While Steem would give me a bigger return if the app takes off; there are still too many encumbered entities there that will determine the reach of said app. This is exactly what happened to Nebulus and the project was basically dead in the water even after it proved useful.

Combine that with the uncertainty of the platform now that Tron owns Steem Inc, it is not the right place for me. I'd rather prove my usefulness in a community that needs these feature than try to convince the Steem whales that "I'm good enough" to be apart of their club.

Future dApp Development

Developing an application from scratch is no small feat and while making it open source allows for others to contribute the change of having a group of developers on a application are very small. It's kind of like playing the lottery; most people won't win but a vast many will try.

So after much thought I determined that any app I create for a graphine blockchain should be on Whaleshares. WLS is not too small to be a waste of time but also not so large that new apps get lost in the vast sea of new tools.

I love to create; blog posts, videos, and code so I'll create no matter what the outcome. My hope is that one day something I make will have a useful impact on a community will appreciate the effort. (Not that Steem wouldn't but we already talked about that.)

What Do You Think?

How do you feel about the future Whaleshares and it's decentralized applications?
