Welcome!

There is now a POD created for the community of Gridcoin on Whaleshares. It was created by @startail, a member of the community since long back and maintainer of the Gridcoin Block Explorer.

For now this POD is managed by @startail, but my vision is that it would be a part of the platforms used by the marketing team to reach out to the community. This should be by the community, for the community.

To start I've donated 2000 WLS to this community account, where 500 WLS was used to upgrade the account to a POD account, and the remaining 1500 is locked up in WS.

What is a POD?

A POD is a specific feature on Whaleshares and is kind of like a community within the community, a group of members with a specific interest. Every user that joins the group can post directly to it, and they will be listed on the PODs profile page under Posts.

A POD also has a News section, where posts made by the pod itself will be collected.

The benefit of using @gridcoin POD vs using #gridcoin Tag

PODs are still evolving, and features are coming. So far the main advantages are:

• The POD has a username, which is @gridcoin. As members of the pod can use the pods label for all posts, it enables posts to use a fifth custom tag, making them possible to be more visible.

• All members will have a stats score for their activity within the POD, which could encourage some posting activity. It also enables the community to find others in the group, as members of the POD are listed under Members.

Remember that PODs are public, which means everyone sees posts, comments and members.

Joining the POD

To join the group you have to navigate to https://wallet.whaleshares.io/#/pod_join and type in gridcoin, then click Send Join Request. Joining the pod will cost 0.1 WLS for a network fee + 1 WLS to the POD.
