Gift them knowledge instead.

Our children deserve a better future than our past and if we start worrying about buying for them what we couldn't afford instead of giving them the education and knowledge we never had, we may have set in motion a fail system that will cripple their world.

Knowledge is power and if that isn't what we are striving to give our children, we may have started failing them while yet alive.

Material possession are as cool as they can be but their date of expiration comes into play faster than we may want to use them.

Should I buy a Ferrari for my son because my father didn't buy me one when I was my son's age?
How about teaching him some skills that will enable him buy a dozen Ferrari and also help him help his world?

Giving your children what you think they want is cool, but it will be cooler and will stay more fashionable if you can gift them the education and knowledge you couldn't have in your time.

Knowledge is power and it stays evergreen overtime. Knowledge doesn't fade out and it certainly never gets exhausted. You are as smart as the knowledge of a thing you have in your head.
Children are amazing and they have the ability to get smarter or stupid faster than you can say "go." So if you fill a child with things that will not empower or improve his knowledge base, you will just be creating one more problem in the world.

Buy your children knowledge and you will be giving them something you never had as a child. The best gift to give is something that will outlive you and them.
