Retro Gaming Blogging Challenge: Skyrim Is The Game I Can Never Get To Finish

This post is my 5th casual entry for the Retro Gaming Blogging Challenge for the Hive Gaming Community initiated by @marcoquin.

There is one game I can never get to finish no matter how I swear to myself that I am going to do it sometime. And that game would be The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim - Legendary Edition.

The Legendary Edition includes the original The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim game, the 3 DLC's – "Dawnguard", "Hearthfire", and "Dragonborn" – and added features like new camera angles, mounted combat, Legendary difficulty mode for veteran players, and Legendary skills – enabling you to master every ability and level up your skills. Plus, the game can be very much modded to your heart's content.

Yeah, yeah, then why the heck can't you just damn finish it?

It is because of those damn MODS. The game has a very much active and robust modding community ever since the original game came out in 2011. The base vanilla game has very good gameplay and a very big world to explore but all the characters are damn fugly. But the thousands of mods available now make the game much, much better.

Overhauling the look, feel and gameplay of Skyrim with the mods to agree with your own tastes can take a whole day with reading the modding guides, installing the mods, and testing them out if I like them. It can even take more than 2 days if I am not satisfied with the mods I have installed and looking for better ones to replace them with.

And then on to the game. Would it not be great if my character looks like Conan the Barbarian? His female warrior companions look like fantasy versions of Victoria's Secret models? He gets to marry them all? Your horny character gets to make love and have children with the various beautiful characters in the game? Lives in a medieval mansion and be a king? Yes, the possibilties are endless and you got to mod for that again. That is why I consider Skyrim as the ultimate RPG.

That is why I never get to finish it. I have spent too much time on modding and role-playing my horny and nerdy fantasies on Skyrim. And it is what is keeping me from playing and fulfilling the main quest of the game.

My old PC gave up its gaming life in 2017. Currently my laptop can't handle Skyrim. So now I am waiting for Hive to moon properly so I can buy a new gaming PC to be able to taste the Skyrim modding goodness fever again and have the resolve to finish it.
