Our Winter Vacation
Do you remember yesterday when I said that we are going on a vacation to break up the darkness?
Well I have finalized the plans. Gerri is working until noon on the 24th and we will do the first leg of the journey that afternoon.
Yep, you read that right. We are heading north for our winter vacation. In the Honda. With these two assholes.
So the first night we have a pet-friendly room at the Lakeview Inn and Suites in Fort Nelson, BC. From there we will leave and head north to one of our favourite spots ever. Yep.
We love the hot springs. I know I did a post about it a few years back. We came up for the solstice and slept in the van with the dogs. It was long enough ago that we had two totally different dogs. I'm thinking it was six years ago or something like that. We will enjoy a brisk soak and then continue on our journey further north to the Yukon.
At Watson Lake we will visit the world famous Signpost Forest. After that we will head south down the Stewart-Cassiar highway to Jade City. I don't know much about it but they mine and sell Jade there and until recently had a reality show on TV about it called Jade Fever. It's on regular TV so we don't get it but we did watch a couple of the first episodes on a DVD.
When we get there we will be staying in the Cabina, which looks amazing. It's pet-friendly so our beloved fur babies will be all cozied up with us.
Another awesome feature is that there is no running water and this is where we will be pooping.
Man, I am really excited for this trip. I absolutely love travelling with my wife and pets and before my mom passed away, (a year ago today, actually) we had always talked about taking a trip up to Jade City. She watched the show and loved rocks as much as we do. A lot of our time was spent collecting rocks all over Northern BC when she came out here a few years back and this just feels like a good thing to do.
