bHIVE Daily Bible - (Matthew 8:26 )

And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm - Matthew 8:26

In the eight chapters of the book of Matthew, the second half introduces us to something important, a substance called faith.

Jesus was in a ship with His disciples and then there arose a great wind, a mighty tempest in the sea and a heavy wave covering the ship.

And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.

Yes, they spoke out of fear for their hearts trembled. Obviously, other negative thoughts could have been flowing through their minds too.

Therefore, Jesus replied, as stated in the Scriptures:

Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.

Their faith was weak and little, so they had to awake the Master.

Yes, Jesus is the Captain of our lives, the Spiritual Director but for those who believe. By believing, I mean submitting to His own power to save us.

Just like the disciples, there are often times that the storms of our lives come and tend to question our existence of God.

There are some occasions or happenings that try to hinder our belief or corrupt our spiritual stand in God - it could be death, sickness and so on. The scripture as entailed in this verse reminds us that the Master is around.

None of our problems is bigger than He is. He has the power to calm those storms, to rebuke the evil winds of our lives, and bring about all round calmness.

Those around Him were marveled at this great miracle, saying, "What manner of man is this, that even the winds and the sea obey him?".

We can operate on this same level if we have Jesus' kind of faith. A faith that everything created obeys and responds to.

That's the image that God has created us in - to dominate and rule over the earth. But how can we command what isn't in existence to come into reality when we don't possess this great supernatural gift called faith?

How can we exploit when we don't know our God? Knowing who we serve and the power within us can navigate us into this higher realm.

A realm of dominion and power. A level where we function as God's. Note the key ingredient, faith.

When we believe, not just believe, but believe in Him who has to power to create all things, Him who is, all in all, we begin to command the supernatural.

And this is the will of God, that all things will work for our good. That's the divine mandate, the original agenda of the loving Father.
