Google is stealing content from other websites
Genius.com is a music site that houses numerous work of music, videos, and lyrics — BUT! — it also uses a very unique way to track its content online by applying apostrophes inside of the text of the lyrics.
Google has been stealing the lyrics and publishing it on their own platform, the search engine for years, while at the same time enforcing various schemes to other websites in order to “improve quality”.
So no matter what they say, Google still abuses creator rights by displaying the content from other websites in their “information panels”.
In this way, Google gets all the traffic, while the audience once acquiring information from the search engine itself, has no need to visit the source website.
Google issued a second statement in which their team says they will terminate its agreements with partners who were “not upholding good practices.”
They do not have any partnership with Genius, but LyricFind, a Canadian company that secures deals with music publishers allowing companies such as Google to publish lyrics online.
Still, the data from the Google information panels are not identical to Lyric Find, but to Genius texts with weird apostrophe pattern.
