Here are the five oldest coaches who have worked in the Premier League.

1. Roy Hodgson (73 years, 42 days).

In his long and extraordinary coaching career, Roy Hodgson has coached various clubs in four different countries. He is the coach who brought Blackburn Rovers to sixth in the Premier League from 1997 to 1998.

However, poor results in the following season saw Hodgson relieved of his duties at Blackburn. It took a decade before the Englishman returned as coach in the Premier League.

Hodgson coached Fulham in 2007 for two seasons and moved to Liverpool in 2010. However, Hodgson only lasted six months at Anfield before joining West Bromwich Albion in February 2011.

After four years in charge with the England National Team, Hodgson has coached Crystal Palace to this day. He even beat Man United in the 2020-2021 season.

On 20 September 2020, Crystal Palace won 3-1 at Manchester United at Old Trafford. The win was extraordinary for Hodgson. Because the British man is 73 years old.

2.Bobby Robson (71 years, 192 days)

Bobby Robson started his coaching career with Fulham, the club where he played. He then coached Newcastle United in the 1999-2000 Premier League season.

He made Newcastle finish 11th in the league that season. Furthermore, they managed to bring The Magpies to finish fourth in the next season.

However, the 2004-05 season started Newcastle's poor form. They slipped to 17th position. During the last match, Robson's Newcastle lost to Aston Villa, where Robson was 71 years old at the time.

3. Alex Ferguson (71 years, 139 days)

The legendary coach, Sir Alex Ferguson, holds the record for the longest coaching stint for 21 seasons until 2018. However, Arsenal's Arsene Wenger broke his record.

Even so, the man from Scotland holds the record in his coaching career in the Premier League. Ferguson, one of the coaches who has played more than 800 games in the Premier League, apart from Wenger.

He is also the only coach in the Premier League to have won more than 500 games (528 to be exact). He helped Man United win 13 Premier League titles for Man United

In the last match of his coaching career, Ferguson, then 71, oversaw Man United's match against West Bromwich Albion which ended in a 5-5 draw in the 2012-2013 season.

4. Neil Warnock (70 years, 83 days)

Neil Warnock when he was 70 years old coached Cardiff City. He helped Cardiff beat Manchester United at Old Trafford in the 2018-2019 season.

A year earlier, Warnock managed to bring Cardiff promotion to the highest caste of the Premier League. However, he failed to keep his team afloat due to dismal results, especially in the second half of the season.

5. Guus Hiddink (69 years, 189 days)

Guus Hiddink had his first career in the Premier League in early 2009. He was then anchored by the London giants, Chelsea as temporary coach replacing Luiz Felipe Scolari.

Guus Hiddink, was actually still the coach of the Russian National Team at that time. However, he agreed to leave his job in Russia and chose to coach the Blues. 3. The man from the Netherlands immediately improved Chelsea's game. His team managed to penetrate the Champions League and win the FA Cup.

However, Hiddink chose to leave even though the Chelsea players and fans begged him to stay. He left because he had a commitment to the Russian national team.

Six years later, Hiddink returned to lead Chelsea for the second time, as interim coach after the departure of Jose Mourinho. In the final match of his second term, 69-year-old Hiddink led his team to a 1-1 draw against Leicester City.

Thus the historical information of the oldest coach in the history of the Premier League may be useful.
